Lasya

 

Lasya- grace, beauty and quiet power. Said to originate from the Goddess Parvati, Lasya acts as the feminine counterpart to Lord Shiva's vigorous Tandava. Imagine a gymnast- their movements are no easy feat. They require strength, power, and skill, yet it looks effortless. There's elegance and expression. That is exactly how Lasya operates as well. While appearing more subtle and soft, it exudes a different kind of energy, purposeful and poised.  Embodying this is a difficult skill- what appears soft on the outside is actually twenty different muscles strained to the brink- all while keeping on a smile and expressing. I'm still learning, still growing but remember this- if done right, the audience will never know the energy that goes into a performance.
