Different styles in Kathak

 One thing I`ve learnt through participating in various school shows is that each dancer has their own style and own interpretation of Kathak. In fact, I don`t think this is limited to kathak but is true in all dances and even all art forms. At times when working with people with a different style, you are likely to clash. However, I think that as a dancer this is an amazing opportunity to go out of your comfort zone and learn new movements and techniques. They might just become you`re new favorite! The vastness of Kathak never ceases to astound me.  Each guru teaches their own interpretation of the dance and it is this engagement with help become the art form what it is today. The amazing thing is that Kathak has evolved and adapted through centuries while still maintaining its essence of grace and beauty.
